But some times you may not get a domain as your wish. And you can find your cherished domain to others. In this case, you can propose the owner of your wishing domain to sell it. Nowadays, there are many companies who booked domains and sell them at a high price, it may be 100-1000$ or more. However, there are also some company that sell the domain at an average price as they used this domain once. And I am going to give some precaution when you buy this kind of domains. So let's start,
- At first contact with the owner and see his invoice and note the renew date.
- If you find all are okay, then search the domain in google and bing, as it was used, you may find domain URL in search engine result page. For better search it for site:website.com
- If you find pages or URLs of the domain like below,
you should not purchase the domain. (Here, wersolver is my domain that I started to a blog and stopped it, but its 38 results are still shown on google after 1 month of disconnecting hosting plan.)
- You should avoid the above kind of domain because they are ranked if you click on the link from google they will show you a 404 page.
- If you have no way without purchasing and you purchase this kind of domain, you have to use custom redirection.
- And at last, solve the copyright issue.

If you take an old or used domain there are also some benefits like
- You may get a high domain authority
- A little higher Alexa ranking
- And some popularity
